Troop 188

Palatine, Illinois

Announcements

Reminders

- Camp out sign up will stop 2 weeks before the event.  This means
that you must return your permission slip and pay 2 weeks prior to the
event. There are no refunds if cancelled after the 2 week cut-off

- All scout parents are welcome at ANY Committee Meeting you can
attend. Come and help us make decisions on the running of our troop
and plan a quality program for our boys! We really appreciate the adults
who come to every Committee Meeting, but would like to hear the
opinions, ideas and perspective of others as well.

- Tents are very expensive for the troop to replace. They need to be
dried and cleaned of any dirt right after an outing, as soon as weather
permits. Then return them clean and dry to the next troop meeting.

- PLEASE do not sign your scout's books. Only a Scoutmaster or assistant can verify that a skill has been learned and sign-off accordingly. If you are interested in becoming the Scout Master or an Assistant, attend a committee meeting for more information.

What is a Committee Meeting?

Everyone is welcome to attend committee meetings. A typical meeting consists a Committee Chairperson's report, Scoutmaster's report and Financial status of the troop. We also discuss past events (lessons learned) and future events. This is a great way to get a heads up for upcoming events as well as discussing past and future events for any possible improvements or changes.  We appreciate the adults who come to the meetings, but would like to hear the opinions, ideas and perspective of others also! You do not need to show up for every meeting. It's well worth your time!!   Please consider becoming a Member of Committee for our troop. You would sit in on Review Boards for advancing scouts, only on the Monday nights that you are available. If we have many adults signed up to do this, it’s easier for us to find 3 available for the night Boards are scheduled. Every boy advancing to the next rank needs one! Boards of Review help us assess how well the troop is doing by giving the scout an opportunity to tell us his favorite events and how he thinks the troop could improve.
