Troop 188

Palatine, Illinois

About Our Troop

Troop 188 was established in 1967.
We are proud that as of October 2009, we have 78 Eagle Scouts!!

Troop 188, in Palatine was established in 1969 and is chartered by Christ Lutheran Church, in Palatine. We currently meet on Monday evenings at the church. We have approximately 50 active scouts and many enthusiastic and dedicated leaders and parents. We are a scout run troop.

The troop averages ten campouts a year including summer camp. Every month we have day trips and campouts for scouts to participate in. In addition to the numerous campouts (check photos in our photo gallery!), we always participate in several service projects to help our community. Every year troop 188 has a Thanksgiving Feast where we cook turkeys and all the fixings outdoors for families of the troop and visiting Webelos (more than 150 people!) We also offer the scouts opportunities to work on merit badges by working with our merit badge counselors during our Monday meetings. We feel that this is a great way for scouts to earn merit badges and remain active .

Every spring we have an overnight lock in at a local church were we plan out the next year's outings and events. We encourage parents to attend meetings and campouts and support the Troop, leaving the leadership to the boys.

High Adventure trips include Napawon Adventure base, Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota, Scuba trips and training,   Seabase, and Philmont. We have rotated between Camp Napawon and Camp Owasippe for Summer Camp.

Webelos 2 scout families are always welcome to visit Troop 188 at any Monday evening meeting. Visiting a troop is part of Arrow of Light requirements, so come on by. We would love to talk with you!

Troop 188 was established in 1969. Since that time, we are proud to have produced more than 80 Eagle Scouts! We have more than 50 youth registered and active with our troop.
